Bright Light Projects (BLP) is an advocate and is implementing United Nations Sustainable Development Goal # 6 (SDG6): Clean Water and Sanitation - Ensure Availability and Sustainable Management of Water and Sanitation for all. For children under five, water- and sanitation-related diseases are one of the leading causes of death. Every day, over 800 children die from preventable diseases caused by poor water, and a lack of sanitation and hygiene.
Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) is one of our flagship programs that has created lots of impact reaching many beneficiaries. This program is mainly to advocate and promote Water Sanitation and Hygiene in rural communities in Sub Sahara Africa
BLP is implementing and recommends the EMAS technology focused on addressing one key target of SDG6: By 2030, achieve access to adequate and equitable sanitation and hygiene for all and end open defecation, paying special attention to the needs of women and girls and those in vulnerable situations.
WHY BLP EMAS TECHNOLOGY
ü The materials used to construct these pumps are locally found in various rural communities and local shops. The cheapest so far
ü The pumps can be constructed by the users themselves without ordering for any external part Internationally.
ü They can be maintained by the community people themselves without calling for technicians out of their own communities.
ü This technology can also serve as a means of capacity building in which the people can use to do business by providing safe drinking water and sanitation systems.
ü The EMAS pump is one of the most protected pumps that are free from contamination from the soil hydrological surface and from the aquifer bed
ü This is the only hand pump for now that pumps water at 1.6 litter per one push
ü This is the only pump system that can supply water to an elevated tank without a machine or current
"One EMAS Pump Cost $400 / One EMAS Toilet cost $400. You can have your name engraved at the PUMP or toilet if you pay one for your community.
